I have an 1888-O that I'm having difficulty determining if it's a VAM-41 or VAM-14. Please take a look and give me your opinion on why or why not it's either one of these. It was suggested that "die marriages" may exist with this one, but I have no clue as to what that process entails.

Diagnostic photos are below the VW VAM-41 & VAM-14 links.

1888-O VAM-41 Near Slanted Date *NEW 2014*

Discovery 2013 - Ray Castro AKA Hobocarver
'41 III230 - C3a (N'ear Slanted Date) (181) I-2 R-5
Obverse III230 - Date set further left than normal and slanted with 8 higher than 1.
Reverse C3A - Die marker - Diagonal die scratch on middle tail feather.
Comments: Appears to be earlier stage of VAM 38/38A marriage.

1888-O VAM-14 High Near Date

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, June 1980.
14 III2 9 - C3a (High Near Date)(181) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 9 - Date set high and further left than normal.
