1922-P VAM-1A Line in Tiara

Discovered by Jeff Oxman, April 1999.
This coin is a Top 50 Peace Dollar VAM.
1A (revised) II 1 · B1a (Die Gouge in Rays, Doubled Reverse Rays) I-3 R-4
Obverse II 1– Horizontal die gouge in rays below B of LIBERTY.
Reverse B1a - Normal B1 reverse.

1. The same obverse die is paired with a different B1 reverse, with slightly doubled rays on left side below tailfeathers and below and above ONE, now listed as VAM 39. DKC 10/24/12.
2. Two die cracks also help with attributing the VAM-1A. One runs from the top left of the rays down through the right edge of the gouge. The other runs from the neck to the '1' and also splits off between the '1' and '9'.
3. This VAM also exhibits a decent DDR, mainly in the rays under ONE. Leroy declined giving a new VAM # to the coin as it had been known as VAM 1A for over 12 years:
