1921-S VAM-6A Doubled Stars & Motto & Upper Reverse, Die Scratch
Discovered by Herb Zepke, March 2000.
This coin is a Hit List 40 Morgan Vam.
6A IV 3 D2e (Doubled Stars & Motto & Upper Reverse, Die Scratch) (189) I-3 R-5
Obverse IV 3 - Diagonal die scratch connecting B and U in PLURIBUS.
(PCGS MS # 134059 - note some VAM-6B were labeled this)
1- This variety is easy to detect with a standard loupe but can also be seen with the naked eye. Hence, the VAM-6A often gets cherry picked.
2- This variety has been seen with a partially filled 'u' in 'trust'. A new variety will not be assigned to this, as it is merely a filled die striking error. The filled 'S' VAM 6B was listed before Leroy Van Allen stopped assigning numbers to filled dies.

Values jumped slightly after PCGS included this as one of the coins they will attribute with a VAM on the slab.
The VAM-6B die state is more interesting because of both the gouge AND the missing mint mark.
Coins with faint mint marks are still VAM-6A.
