1921-P VAM-43 Doubled Hair and Stars

Discovered by John Roberts, June 2004.
43 (revised) IV 34 · D1a (Doubled Hair and Stars, Scribbling Die Scratches) (189) I-2 R-4
Obverse IV 34– Slightly doubled to tripled hair edge above forehead and lower hair edge above date and right stars. Doubled left stars and very slightly tripled right stars. Slightly doubled 1's below upper crossbars and 9 at bottom outside of upper loop.
Reverse D1a- Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg and between eagle's left wing and body. Die marker - Short single die scratch below lower outer eagle's left wing.
Unfortunately, no one bothered to ask me about the VAM 43 discovery piece before linking any other varieties to it. Open the Scribbles guide and you'll find a shot of VAM 43's scribbles - the pattern is different than VAM 1BC1 (now 1M1) . I sent the discovery piece (along with every other 21 discovery I had at the time) back in while the research for the guide was under way - John Roberts
