1921-P VAM-3D Overpolished Wing

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, May 1978.
3D IV1 -D2a (Overpolished Wing) (189) I-2 R-3
Comments:
1- This VAM has been overpolished near the eagle's body on the Eagle's left wing. The Tailfeathers near the Eagle's right leg are also overpolished with many fine raised polishing lines present.
2- This VAM may have been a precursor to the mass listing of distinct scribbling scratches varieties. There are a lot of 21-PDS varieties with overpolishing like this. Be sure to match your coin to Leroy's plate photos to make sure you have the right attribution. The 1921-P VAM-3D was not listed as a distinct scribbles variety in the 2008 guide, probably because Leroy did not examine one in person during the height of scribbles discoveries/revisions in 2007 and 2008.
