1921-P VAM-3CW1 Scribbling Die Scratches #58

3CW1 (revised) IV 1•D2a (Scribbling Die Scratches Cheek, Leg & Wing) (189) I-4 R-5
Obverse IV 1- Slightly doubled nose and lips plus most left stars. Scribbling die scratches in various directions on cheek and back of jaw to remove rust pits.
Reverse D2a- Fine die scratches in various directions on over-polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg and between eagle’s left wing and body. Die marker- Single horizontal polishing line at left of eagle’s left leg.
Comments:
1- Update May 2008: An EDS example with obverse scribbles has come to light! This one will be sent to Leroy.
Update June 2008: Leroy has issued a revision to the 3CW:

The 1921-P VAM-3CW may be previously listed as the 1921-P VAM-3AX Bean Bottom S. Leroy does not have a specimen of the 3AX and cannot confirm or deny this. If you have a VAM-3AX, please compare it to the scribbles above and post if there is indeed VAM convergence.
