1921-P VAM-3BN

Discovered By
3BN IV1 - D2a (Scribbling Die Scratches #15) (189) I-2 R-5
Reverse D2a - Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg, between eagle's left wing and body and in middle of both wings.
Die marker - Check mark die scratch in space to left of eagle's right leg and short die gouge at lower right bottom outside of eagle's left wing.
Comments:
1- This VAM was also listed for a few days as 1921-P VAM-3DE.
2- Many existing varieties include scribbling scratches features on the tailfeathers in addition to their primary features (pick up points). When possible, we will attempt to show non-scribbling scratches die features to help with attribution. Some of the new scribbling scratches varieties have been eliminated as early die states of known VAMs for which the die breaks, etc. have not yet formed, and more will likely follow.

The scribbles in the protected area to the left of the right leg are a great indicator for this variety:

Similarly, the field scratches in the top left area of this photo below are good for attribution. These scratches almost look like a claw:

Also, note the small the circular die chip above the left side of the Eagle's inside talon on the picture above and below.
