1921-D VAM-1K Die Break 5th Left Star

1K1 (revised) IV 1 - D2a (Die Scratch DO, Scribbling Die Scratches #51) (189) I-2 R-5
Reverse D2a - Fine diagonal die scratches from right side of E top of O in Dollar, thru O in OF and at left and above left Sn STATES. Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg and between eagle's left wing and body.

Obverse IV 1- Die break a lower left side of fifth left star. Heavy die crack extends from fifth left star to below second left star and continuing to Liberty head neck.
1. Leroy has divided this coin into the VAM-1K1 and 1K2, with the die break 5th left star being the key to the 1K2. The 1K is also known for die scratches in the first S in STATES and between the eagle's right wing tip and the rim by that S.
2. A sleeper in the series, only a few examples of this coin are known. Is it because the die break is hard to spot on the star? Perhaps it is that most 21-D breaks are on the reverse and cherry pickers focus more there. Only time will tell if this rarity holds up!
Heavy die cracks extends from fifth left star to below second left star and continuing to Liberty's head and neck.
