1F(revised) IV 1 · D2a (Scribbling Die Scratches) (189) I-3 R-6
Obverse IV 1– Slightly tripled left stars. (Very late die state shows break under 1. - Now 1F3)
Reverse D2a– (Heavy die cracks thru tops of ED STATES OF AMERI letters. Small die breaks at top right of A in STATES, top left and right of O in OF and top of M in AMERICA. - Now 1F2)
Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg and between eagle’s left wing and body.
Die marker - Single heavy horizontal polishing line in space to left of eagle's left leg.

LVA Plate Photos
The VAM-1F2 die break forms a triangle inside the top center of the M in AMERICA (See Vam-1F2). There is also a small break extending from the top left of the E.
Another small die break extends to the top right of the A in STATES. This break is visible on the coin before the small die break forms on the M and E of AMERICA so it is useful to identifying EDS VAM-1F coins.
Very late die states of this coin have a “horned O” die break on the word OF. A similar break occurs on several 1921-D varieties including VAM-1V and VAM-1M.
Also, this die pair is known with a rim cud and shard of metal under the '1' of the date. See 1921-D VAM-1F3
