1921-D VAM-1ES Die Break S, Scribbling Die Scratches #89
Discovered February 2009
1ES IV1 - D2a (Die Break S, Scribbling Die Scratches #89) (189) I-2 R-5
Obverse IV 1 - Some left and right stars slightly doubled.
Reverse D2a- Fine die crack thru top of TATES and bottom of STAT with small bean bean shaped die break inside bottom loop of right S. Fine double die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg and between eagle’s left wing and body. Die Marker- Single vertical polishing line at top of eagle's right wing.
1- This Bean Bottom S variety shows the smallest bean so far to ever earn mention in a listing.
2- Note that the tripling on the stars and date have caused at least one example to be slabbed by ANACS as a 1921-D VAM-5.
3- The 21-D VAM-1ES is also a scribbling scratches variety. Great die cracks and breaks on obverse and reverse that may already be listed (though not in Fun with 21 guide). If you recognize the die cracks as already listed, please speak up. Thank you.

These scribbling scratches are faded from die wear but did not immediately seem listed in an earlier die state when compared to previously listed scribbles varieties:
