Obverse IV 11- All left and right stars slightly tripled towards rim.Tripled date digits below upper serif of both 1s and below loops of 9 & 2.
Reverse D2a- Vertical die gouge thru O in OF down to top of u in Trust. Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg. Die marker - Vertical die gouge thru O in OF.
Comments: This variety may be double-listed as the 1921-D VAM-11A. Examine the photo below for a line between the "u" in "Trust" and "O" in "OF." It seems that this is the same die gouge as in 1921-D VAM-11A. May also be related to 1921-D VAM-5B, but 5B does not have the O gouge. Study is in progress. (2012)
The 1921-D VAM-13A is also a "Bean Bottom S" variety (scroll down for details).

This is a "Bean Bottom S" variety. Click on the Bean Bottom S VAMworld page for links to the other bean bottom VAMs.
In September 2007, Leroy revised his listing for the 21-D VAM-13 to include the "Bean Bottom S" feature and scribbling scratches tailfeathers. This die state was subsequently assigned VAM-13A.
Below are some photos of the revision specimen, which may help to eliminate a 1921-D VAM-5(x) variety(ies) if we detect that this coin is separately listed over in the VAM-5's. Since the die gouge O makes the VAM-13, then this Bean Bottom S is a solid VAM-13, no doubt about it. The O gouge is prominent and undeniable.
