Discovered by Jeff Oxman, May 1985.
23 (revised) III2 18 - C3a (Near Low Date, Doubled Stars) (188) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 18 - First two stars on left and right doubled towards rim. Ear slightly doubled at right inside. Date set low and further left than normal.

1. Beware of strike doubling on this coin, which can hide the actual doubling on the stars.

Arrows point to actual doubling in the die. Contrast this with strike doubling seen on the left side of the star and left side of lower point.

Low, near date. There is no doubling on the date. Strike doubling is seen on top left of 19 and lower right inside of 00. While this may be typical of this VAM, it may also manifest itself differently between specimens.

Doubling on left and right inside of ear is fairly strong.
