15A III2 2 - C3d (Open 9, S Tilted Right, Clashed Obverse st) (?) I-2 R-6
Obverse III2 2- Clashed die with partial incuse of st of Trust from obverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Light polishing lines on obverse and reverse fields which removed most of the die chash marks.
Reverse C3d- Mint mark tilted slightly to the right.
1. This reverse shared with VAM-5, VAM-8, VAM-8A, VAM-9, VAM-13, VAM-15, and VAM-15A.
2. The obverse die is DIFFERENT from that for the VAM-15.
3. The date is in the normal lateral position, with an open 9. (The ball of the 9 does not touch the upper loop.)
LVA Plate Photos:
Large S mint mark is centered, slightly high and tilted right.
A particularly bold transfer of the st, from trust of the reverse motto, can be found in the hair vee on the obverse. This was discovered on a DMPL coin. Both sides were polished to remove clash marks, with this being the only significant remnant. It is possible that an earlier state, with more clash transfers evident, might have been struck and is out there.
