1897-P VAM-8 Doubled Left Stars & Phrygian Cap Top

Discovered by Bill Deterline, December, 1977. Revised 2009.
This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM.

Obverse III28– Strongly doubled all left stars towards rim. Phrygian cap doubled at top edge. Slightly doubled profile from LIBERTY band front down to chin, E P-US UNUM and tops of cotton leaves. Very slightly doubled bottom outside of 8 and top of 7.
Comments: Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist. Reverse die may be shared with VAM-6.
