1890-S VAM-26A Doubled Ear, S/S Left Curved, Die Break Wing

Discovered by Calvin Cherry, September 2000. Revised 2016
This coin is a WOW! Morgan VAM.
26A (revised) III2 10 · C3r (Doubled Ear, S/S Left Curved, Die Break Wing) (190) I-3 R-6
Obverse III2 10– Slightly doubled top left and right inside of ear, plus chin and edges of hair above forehead. Date at right edge of normal lateral position.
Reverse C3r – Vertical die break in the upper part of the eagle’s left wing plus an additional vertical die breaks in upper three leaf clusters in wreath.
1- This reverse shared with VAM-26, VAM-26A, and VAM-29.VAMs 26A and 29 are later die state reverses and have a die break across the eagles left wing.

The VAM-26 and broken VAM-26A were discovered by Calvin Cherry in September 2000. Liberty's profile and ear are slightly doubled, defining the III2-10 obverse of VAM-26. The reverse is S/S left. VAM-26A exhibits reverse breaks, the dominant one being a long one from the top berry of the right wreath to above the r in trust.
The coin below is holdered ANACS PL 62.
Currently believed to be EDS Reverse stage/state of the VAM 29 obv. marriage, after a obverse swap. 6/2016 user:Albannach
