1889-P VAM-40 Doubled Ear, Far Date

Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie April 2003.
40 III2 36 C3a (Doubled Ear, Far Date) ( ? ) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 36- Ear slightly doubled at right inside and bottom outside. Date set a left edge of further right than normal. Die chip between loops on right side of first 8 & on both sides of second 8 on some specimens. Numerous die polishing lines in LIBERTY and cotton bolls. Diagnostic- Long polishing lines below cotton bolls.
