1889-P VAM-1 Closed 9

Specimen #2 discovered November 2015 by John Higginbotham.
1 III2 1-C3a (Closed 9) (189) I-1 R-1
Obverse III2 1 - Normal die of III2 type with tail of 9 touching body. Some specimens show die chips between loops of second 8 on right, both 8's on right, or first 8 on right and second 8 on both sides
Reverse C3a - Normal die of C3 type.
Comments: Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist.
Comments from Leroy Van Allen for VAM-1 Specimen #2: Second specimen PCGS 911253- slight dblg at lower-rt inside & bottom of earlobe. Slight dblg at just lower rt inside not enough to list and neither is slightd dblg of earlobe which has to be stronger to list by itself. Date at rt edge of normal position & has slight slant that is within normal tolerance.
