1889-O VAM-13B Far Date, Crumbled Stars

Discovered by Larry Briggs, August 2003
This coin is a WOW! Morgan VAM.
13B III2 8 - C3a (Far Date, Crumbled Stars) (181) I-2 R-6
Obverse III2 8 - Date set further right than normal. Extreme die wear showing as built up metal on all left stars , first right star and E-P towards coin center.

1. The VAM-13B is a terminal state of an extremely stressed obverse die. Die fatigue is evident throughout the die but is most obvious on the left stars and E P of the motto. Leroy Van Allen rated this as an R-6 rarity and it is very difficult to locate.

The pictured one here is a PCGS AU58
