1885-P VAM-14 Doubled 5 Top Line, Thread Impression, "Wild Hair"

Discovered by Martin Field, September 1979.
14(revised) III2 14 • C3a (Doubled 5 Top Line, Thread Impression) (188) I-2 R-4
Obverse III214– 5 in date is doubled at top outside as a thin broken line set very far above top of 5. Thin, curvy thread-like die impression below Phrygian cap ribbon.

  1. Known as the "Wild Hair Variety"
  2. This variety also has a listed clashed die stage, the VAM-14A.
