Obverse III216– 5 in date doubled at very top outside with slant. Weaker doubled 5 top than VAM-2. Date set further right than normal.

Some VAM-21's have a die chip on the fifth outer feather on the eagle's right wing. Not all examples of VAM-21 will have die chips and polishing lines so do not use as a primary diagnostic.
Some VAM-21's have a some die chips on the neck near the neck/jaw/hair curl junction, with polishing lines extending from the hair onto the neck/jaw. Not all examples of VAM-21 will have die chips and polishing lines so do not use as a primary diagnostic.
There is a tiny die scratch between the lower olive branch and middle olive branch.
