1884-O VAM-10 O/O Left, Far Date, Gouge Right Star

Discovered by Walter Breen, February 1966. Revised 2006.
This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM.
10(revised) III2 4 • C3g (O/O Left, Far Date, Gouge Right Star) (181) I-2 R-4
Obverse III2 4 - Date set further right than normal.
Reverse C3g– II O mint mark re-punched with original showing as a wavy vertical line within left side of opening. So-called O/CC variety. Early die states show broad polishing gouge below right star.

1. There is evidence VAM-10 and VAM-50 are the same die pair. It has been suggested that VAM-50 needs to be delisted at the next opportunity Leroy has to examine the two coins side-by-side. [[1]]
