1883-P VAM-1 Normal Die

1 III2 1 ∙ C3a (Normal) (180) I-1 R-1
Obverse III2 1 – Normal die of III2 type. Some specimens show a die chip between the loops of the first 8 on the left.
Reverse C3a – Normal die of C3 type.
Comments: Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist. Some specimens show rusted obverse and reverse dies with fine pits over Liberty head and eagle. See VAM-1B.

Weth's Unofficial VAM 1 Nomenclature

Below are nine different die varieties all of which, although differentiable, are designated as VAM 1. The die numbers are not officially assigned by Leroy Van Allen at this time, but are maintained for tracking purposes. If your coin matches one of these, it will be called VAM 1 by any third party attributor. If it matches none of these, chances are it is covered elsewhere in the 1883 listings.
