1882-S VAM-1 Open 2

Discovered by George Mallis, June 1965.
1 III2 1 - C3a (Open 2) (187) I-1 R-2
Obverse III2 1 - Normal die of III2 type with open 2 in which tail does not touch body of 2. Some specimens show die chips between loops of both 8's on right side or on first 8 right side and second 8 left side.
Reverse C3a - Normal die of C3 type with a medium IV mint mark centered and upright.

Comments:
1. Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist.
