1881-O VAM-2A O/O Low, Spike in 8

Discovered by Jeff Oxman, August 1983.
2A III2 1 ∙ C3b (O/O Low, Spike in 8) (176) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 1 - First 8 has a short spike at top left inside of upper loop.
Reverse C3b - Mint mark tilted to left and repunched with original showing at bottom of opening.

1. This is a different obverse die from VAM 2. Cracks at date are different, and there is a thin, vertical scratch on Liberty's upper lip at the back of the nostril.
2. 2A needs to be killed, see V33
