1881-O VAM-2 O/O Low
Discovered by Ron Downing, March 1966.Revised 2013
2(revised) III2 1 - C3b (O/O Low) (176) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 1 - Normal die
Reverse C3b - II O mint mark tilted to left and repunched with curved line showing at bottom inside. Some middle leaves in wreath doubled.
Eagle's right wing over polished in middle.
1. This is actually a different obverse die from VAM 2A. No spike in the first 8, different die cracks, and a clash without letter transfer. It's not a polished VAM 2A obverse. A small sample shows that VAM 2 is not as common as VAM 2A.
