1880-S VAM-38 Doubled 8, S/S Right

Discovered by Oscar Simpson, March 1977.
38 III2 12 ∙ C3g (Doubled 8, S/S Right) (?) I-2 R-4
Obverse III2 12 – Die chip on right between the loops of the first 8 of the date. Second 8 doubled on left bottom outside of upper loop.
Reverse C3g (medium) IV S mint mark repunched with original showing as a short vertical line at top right of upper loop opening and as a vertical curved line at very right side of lower loop opening. Mint mark set slightly left.

1. This obverse shared with VAM-16, VAM-16A, VAM-17, VAM-38, and VAM-62.
2. This reverse shared with VAM-15, VAM-38, VAM-39, and VAM-76 Appears to be a different marriage than 1D1 & 1D3 (which are the same marriage).
