1880-P 8/7 Checkmark,VAM-41 Doubled Obverse Top, Tripled Date

This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM.

Obverse III2 41 – Fairly strong doubling on tops of E PLURIB and right side of LIBERTY. Top edge of cotton leaves slightly doubled as is hair below LIBERTY. All right stars tripled to quadrupled and all left stars very slightly tripled towards rim. Tripled date with 18 slightly tripled at bottom, second 8 very slightly doubled at left outside of upper loop and 0 doubled at lower outside and lower left inside. Heavy polishing lines inside ear and in lower hair. Right 8 has short dash below lower loop of 8/7 on EDS. Two slightly curved diagonal rough raised lines, and three slanted almost vertical rough lines at left side of right 8 upper loop. Raised lines of 8 re-punched over 7 in date of checkmark set low. Checkmark connecting point has raised line down bottom left edge of upper loop. Bottom loop of 8 has two raised lines on edge and over onto field near dash showing short dash is part of bottom 7 of vertical stem. Lower loop of right 8 has raised vertical line on top right inside edge of 7 stem then continues as raised line on top loop right side.
Reverse C3a – Normal die
1. Also has strong vertical polish lines in hair.
2. Also specimens seen have a small tooth shaped polish line in the eagle's wing directly below D of UNITED, in the 6th feather from the top, adjacent to where another feather begins. using the uppermost set of wreath leaves, the 4th leaf from the left points straight at it.
3. Another die scratch lies parallel between the wreath leaf and berry above the second L of DOLLAR.
4. Very similar ear on the VAM-80 so please verify
