1878-S VAM-47 Engraved Wing Feather

Discovered by Pete Bishal, January 1981.

Obverse II 1 –
78 S V47 Die 1 - Tiny die chip below Phrygian cap fold. Same die as VAM-8 Die 2. Fourth right star broken.
78 S V47 Die 2 - Polishing scratch in top of ER in LIBERTY and polished loops of first 8. Fourth right star broken.
78 S V47 Die 3 - Long horizontal die scratch between hair locks in back of neck. Fourth right star broken. Same die as VAM-69.
Reverse B2ae– Feather engraved between eagle’s right wing and leg. R in Trust broken. Slightly doubled bottom inside of ITED STATES F and tops of In God We. Later die states show polishing lines in fields.
Die marker: Tiny die dig at end of third tail feather from right.
