5 I2 4 - A1c (Doubled Motto) (189) I-3 R-4
Obverse I2 4 - Doubled motto with R, I, and B having large shifts at bottom. All stars on left slightly doubled. 78 in date is slightly doubled on right outside.
Reverse A1C - Letters in UNITED doubled strongly on top and bottom. STATES OF AMERICA letters doubled at bottom. ONE DOLLAR letters doubled at top. Left wreath strongly doubled. Three small feathers added on eagle's right and two on eagle's left side between leg and bottom of wing.

Comments:
1. The VAM-5 is scarce in all grades. The 1878 VAM-5 is an 8 tailfeather coin with the A1c reverse. This reverse is characterized by unique tailfeathers next to the eagle's wings. UNITED STATES OF is also strongly doubled. A good marker for the A1c reverse is a blob of metal at the bottom of the F.
2. The A1c reverse is shared by Vams 3, 4, 5, 14-6, 14-7, 14-11, 14-12, 14-14, 14-17, and 14-18. All but VAMs 3 & 4 are major rarities.
