1878-P VAM-210 Line Through Y, Extra Feather

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965.
210(revised) II 2 • C2a (Line Through Y, Extra Feather) (194) I-3 R-6
Obverse II 2– Vertical polishing line through Y in LIBERTY.
Reverse C2a– Same as C1a except that inner serif of left A in AMERICA is thinner. No doubling of right wreath, legend or motto letters. Bottom feather of eagle’s right wing extends to junction of next two feathers, and a thin line is present between eagle’s right leg and first wing feather.
Die marker– Long diagonal die scratches thru eagle’s right two tail feathers down to right wreath and another scratch from bottom of arrow feathers to left side of wreath bow.
