116C (revised) II/I 18 - B2a (Doubled P & 1-8, Die Gouge State 3) (180) I-4 R-5
Reverse B2a- Die further lightly polished with tiny bar remaining of feather between eagle's right wing and leg. Die gouges added to right side of wreath bow, top arrow head and back of top arrow head. Heavy polishing lines added at right side of eagle's left leg, diagonal line in upper tail feathers, two lines in lower right tail feathers and diagonal line above arrow feathers. Small vertical die gouge added at top right outside of wreath bow on late die states.
1. There are two dies states of VAM 116C as recognized by Leroy Van Allen in September 2009. The die gouges on the bow as depicted in the bottom photos only appear on the LDS 116C
LVA Plate Photos:
Full O in GOD, some crumbling in the top of the G.
Polished away wing feather, parallel arrow feather, short nock.
There is a strong gouge between the edge of the bow and the ribbon. Much stronger than this photograph indicates.
Diagonal line above arrow feathers.
Note the die gouges from leaves to legs and the over polished area by the wings.
The next two photos show die gouges at the bow on LDS (Stage 7) 116C coins; EDS 116C coins do not have these gouges!
