1878-CC VAM-15 Spiked Lip

Discovered by Irwin Muslow, April 1973.
15 II3 - B2f (Spiked Lip) I-2 R-4
Obverse II3- Point broken off star 4 on right. Vertical vertical die gouge between the lower lip and chin.
Reverse B2f- Short arrow shaft. Widely spaced mint marks at medium height. Left C doubled at left inside and right C has diagonal spike at left inside.

  1. The reverse has the type III small CC with wide spacing and the 4th Right Star is Full.

Main Pick-ups

This variety is easy to attribute. There is a vertical die gouge between the lower lip and chin. The gouge disappears into the bottom of the lower lip, but pokes out once again at the top of the lower lip.
