Discovery 2020 by Bill Latour

III2 27 • C3z (Very Far Date, O Mint Mark Tilted Left, Doubled Arrow Heads, Clashed Obv DO & Rev IB) 181 I-5 R-7
Obverse III2 27 - Unusual and likely unique light whitish full letter clash with clashed D from reverse DOLLAR between IB of PLURIBUS over the wheat stalk grains and fainter full clashed O at lower right of B. A few normal clash marks at coin middle, likely occurred at different time.
Reverse C3z - Unusual and likely unique light whitish full letter clash with clashed I from obverse PLURIBUS left of D of DOLLAR extending down slightly into denticles and B at lower left of O down into denticles. A few normal clash marks at coin middle, likely occurred at different time. Unique peripheral clashing occurred fairly early die states after any PL fields.

Comments:

  1. This is likely the early die stage of VAM 56
  2. Dies were neither aligned parallel to each other nor laterally at the time of this clash.
