1880-P VAM-43 Doubled 1-80, Clashed Reverse M

Discovered by Brian Raines, May 2004.
43 III2 11 · C3a (Doubled 1-80, Clashed Reverse M) ( ?) I-3 R-7
Obverse III2 11 – 1 doubled above bottom crossbar. 0 doubled on the right inside and faintly doubled at top left and right outside. Second 8 is doubled at bottom left outside of upper loop.
Reverse C3a – Same clashed die as VAM-32A reverse with raised designer’s initial M from obverse showing above d in God.
1- This Obverse die was used on VAM 12 and VAM-43. Die scratch on wing. The same reverse is shared by VAMs 29, 32, 32A, and 43.
2- Die scratch on wing. Reverse shared with Vams 29,29A,32,32A, and 43. Photo of Vam-32A
