1921-P VAM-24 Tripled E PLURIBUS

Discovered by Calvin Cherry, October 2001.

24 IV 18 · D2a (Tripled E PLURIBUS, Scribbling Die Scratches) (189) I-2 R-5
Obverse IV 18– 4-7 left stars, hair above Liberty head forehead and E PLURIBUS bottom inside of letters slightly tripled towards rim.
Reverse D2a - Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's left wing and body and in middle of eagle's left wing.
Die marker - Vertical polishing lines below arrow heads.

Comments:
3-14-10: Late die state of VAM-24 found to have rust pitted star before 1921-P VAM-24A breaks have formed. The rust pitting on the star occurred before the pitting in the "G" of "God", and examples can be found showing the former pitting but not the latter. Reverses are the same throughout, per consistent scribbles.
