Comments:
1- 1921-D VAM-1L2
1L2 IV 1 · D2a (Die Break AM, Die Scratches ERI) (189) I-3 R-6
Reverse D2a– Late die state shows fine polishing lines thru bottom of ERI and vertical polished bands thru n G of In God,
2- The VAM-1L variety has one of the nicer breaks in the 1921-D grouping. There is a significant die break emerging from the top left side of the M in AMERICA, running to the left toward the neighboring A. Look at the size of the break coming off the M!

Please note that there is an amazingly similar die crack in the same shape as the die break on the VAM-1AR coin. If you have what looks like a VAM-1L early die state, be sure to check the diagnostic cracks on the VAM-1AR to be certain of the attribution. One key to distinguishing a VAM-1L coin from VAM-1AR is the slightly upward curving crack between the IC of AMERICA.
