1897-P VAM-8 Doubled Left Stars & Phrygian Cap Top

Discovered by Bill Deterline, December, 1977. Revised 2009.
This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM.

Obverse III28– Strongly doubled all left stars towards rim. Phrygian cap doubled at top edge. Slightly doubled profile from LIBERTY band front down to chin, E P-US UNUM and tops of cotton leaves. Very slightly doubled bottom outside of 8 and top of 7.
(1) Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist. Reverse die may be shared with VAM-6.
