1897-P VAM-7 Slanted Date

Discovered by Maurice Dubreuil, January 1977.
7 III2 7 - C3a (Slanted Date) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 7 - Date slanted with 1 very close to rim.
(1) Since VAM numbers are assigned by die classification, and not just by die pairing, multiple die pairings may exist.
(2) There seems to be confusion between VAM 11 and VAM 7. As there are pictures from Leroy Van Allen for VAM 11 and not VAM 7, we can't be sure that VAM 7 and VAM 11 aren't the same. If a coin matches the VAM 11 description and Leroy's photo, it is VAM 11, even though the photo shows a very slight slant to the date. The coins pictured below appear to be VAM 11.
