1891-O is famous for its typically poor strike, like the 90-O And 92-O. Luster is often satiny or dull, due to die wear from close to 270,000 coins being struck per die pair. Well-struck coins do exist, but are the exception to the rule. Prooflike coins are rather scarce, and tend to have good strikes. Fans of die clashes have much to love for 1891-O, with the strong E reverse on the VAM 1A, first noticed at the mint in 1891 during a Special Assay another clashed E on the VAM 3A, and a clashed partial "In God We Trust" from offset dies on VAM 14A. There are also two rare cuds known for 1891-O, VAMs 9B and 15B. A rotated die exists on VAM 8.
