1889-P VAM-7B1 High 9, Die Chip 8, First Clashed Obverse N

1889-P VAM-7B separated into VAM-7B1 and VAM-7B2 in May 2021. PacificWR.
Revised June 2021 by PacificWR. October 2021 by PacificWR
7B III2 7 • C3a (High 9, Die Chip 8, First Clashed Obverse N ) (190) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 7 – Later die state than VAM 7A with stronger die clash lines at jaw-neck junction. Clashed die with partial incuse n of In from reverse showing faintly away from upper Liberty head neck edge. Normal die clash marks showing at Liberty head lips and cap back at ribbon of normal hardened die. Later die state has partial clashed n worn away.

Reverse C3a - Stronger normal two vertical die clash lines up from wing at In - G that didn't show for VAM 23A strong obverse die clash episode. Some die polishing lines in wing-neck gap.

Comments:
1. On the LDS there is a triple clash to the neck (no letter transfer) on the Obverse and on the Reverse, there is a faint 2 + 1 clash in the right wreath.
2. There are three Die Sequences for VAM-7B1. The three sequences will be shown below under "Additional Photos".
