1889-P VAM-7A High 9, Die Chip 8, Clashed dies, Reverse of VAM 23 & 7 Series
Revised September 2020. October 2020 Andy Wojtowich. January 2021. October 2021.
7A III2 7 • C3a (High 9, Die Chip 8, Clashed dies, Reverse of VAM 23 & 7 Series) (190) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 7 - Slightly later die state than VAM 7 with couple light die clash lines at jaw-neck junction and lips. No clash letters at neck. Die chip develops at right side of 8 loop junction. Very slightly doubled right inside of Liberty head ear, but not enough to list separately.
Die markers - Fine vertical polishing lines right inside of ear. Small raised dot on R right leg of LBERTY. Die polishing lines in RTY of LIBERTY. Die polishing lines below cap bottom edge middle. Some coins show roughness on only Liberty head from possible cleaning fluid left on die, only on earliest die state.
