1889-P VAM-7 High 9

Discovered by Charles Wallace as VAM 7, February 1959. Revised September 2020.
7 III2 7 • C3a (Slanted Date) (190) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 7 - 9 in date is set higher than rest of numerals by about 20%. Some specimens show die ship between loops of second 8 on right. Several different dies exist with higher or lower date positions and different normal lateral positions.
Reverse C3a -

Comments:

  1. This is a "catch-all" for dates in this position, one of which was previously listed as VAM 23B.
