1889-O VAM-20A Slanted Date, Clashed Obverse O, Reverse Weak E

Discovered by Jeff Oxman, March 1998. Revised 2004.
This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM.
20A (revised) III2 12 ∙ C3a (Slanted Date, Clashed Obverse O, Reverse Weak E) (181) I-3 R-7
Obverse III2 12 - Clashed die at top with partial incuse O of O mint mark from reverse showing above right wheat leaf.
Reverse C3a - Normal, but clashed die at bottom with weak partial raised E from LIBERTY showing below eagle's tail feathers on left side. Only top back & faint middle serif of E shows.

Comments:
1. Later die state of VAM-20. Exceedingly rare in all grades.
2. Note: Not all clashed VAM-20's are VAM-20A. Subsequent action by the mint removed the E reverse. This stage is listed as VAM-20B.
