1888-O VAM-7A O Set High, Die Gouge

Discovered by Steve Weber, April 1998.
This coin is a Hit List 40 and a WOW! Morgan VAM.
7A III21 · C3c (O Set High, Die Gouge) (181) I-4 R–7
Obverse III21– Die gouges showing as heavy slanted lines below neck point near denticles.

1. Impressive gouge with few known examples.
2. The VAM-7A is one of only two 1888-O VAMs with an R-7 rarity rating, probably more like an R-6
3. the other R-7 being the recently discovered VAM-1G. VAM-1G has been delisted and replaced by VAM-31
