1888-O VAM-1B0 Die Scratch AME

Discovery 2015
1B0 III2 1 · C3a (Die Scratch AME) (181) I-2 R-5
Obverse III2 1 - No Die break yet from denticles thru dot between E-P, Clashed die with clash marks below ear and hair below ear.
Reverse C3a - Long die scratch at bottom of AMERIC letters, plus faint isolated polishing lines at right top of right wreath and UNITED. Clashed die with clash marks at eagles head, below eagles feft wing and top or right wreath. Die polished before VAM-1b1 that made die scratch and die clash marks weak.
1. This die stage as well as the between stage of this coin and the VAM-1B1 EDS have by far the lowest in population of the Scarface progression. The clashing on the reverse is much more dramatic than the photos show. This stage is also referred to as H0.
