12A III216 · C3f - (Doubled Ear Bottom & Legend, Slanted Date, O/O Right, Die Breaks O) (181) I-3 R-5
Obverse III2 16 – Late die states shown long rim cud form L to S in PLURIBUS down to Denticle edge between IB and below middle 8 in date. (Formerly VAM 23.)
Reverse C3f – Late die state shows vertical die crack from rim thru O in DOLLAR up to right bow ribbon with slight field displacement break and tiny die chips inside O. (Formerly VAM 23.)
1. PCGS 8447 - New VAM 12A. Die crack with chips in O of Dollar mentioned for VAM 12 & 23. Start of rim cuds on obv. mentioned in VAM 23. But same dies as VAM 12, so made new 12A for breaks. We don’t list rim cuds unless go into field, but sometimes mention to help identify die.
2. PCGS 4477 - New VAM 12A. Slightly later rim cuds growth. Crack at O about same. We don’t list different changes in same die breaks, chips or displaced field breaks. Only list new die breaks.
3. ANACS 3079 - New VAM 12A. Die crack above LA in Dollar has tiny die chips to small to list & don’t see displaced fielded visible to naked eye. Rim cuds on obv. fully formed but don’t go into field.
