1887-S VAM-2A S/S Left, Damaged Denticles

Discovery 2010.
This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM.
2A III210 · C3b (S/S Left, Damaged Denticles) (187) I-3 R-4
Obverse III210– Damaged denticles below 87 with depressions in field in front of denticle spaces and raised bar in denticle spaces.
Reverse C3b– IV S mint mark re-punched with original showing as arcs within top and bottom loops. Damaged denticles below DO in DOLLAR with depressions in field in front of denticle spaces and raised bar in denticle spaces possibly due to dies coming together at edge of denticles.
This obverse shared with VAM-2A and VAM-15.

Comments:
1. 1887 S/S VAM-2A. The 1887 S/S has a strongly repunched mint mark with the remains of another S visible inside the mint mark. If you have a prooflike 1887-S coin, be sure to check for this repunched mint mark as it often shows up because the dies were well polished when first used.
