887-S VAM-11 Doubled 1-7 & Reverse Lettering
Discovered by Herb Zepke, July 2001.
This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM.
11 III23 C3d (Doubled 1-7 & Reverse Lettering) (?) I-3 R-6
Obverse III2 3 - Date set further left than normal. The 1 is doubled at top left as two curved lines well away from 1. The 7 has a dot and short vertical line to left of top left serif. Liberty head profile slightly doubled.
Reverse C3d - All peripheral lettering doubled towards rim. Tops of In God We Trust doubled. Lower outside leaves of right wreath, upper outside leaves of left wreath, lower right wreath ribbon and right star doubled towards rim.
Comments:
1. This obverse shared with VAM-4 and VAM-11.
2. This reverse shared with VAM-10 and VAM-11.
3. Reverse PUPs for this VAM-11 is a die crack from left star to O in ONE. Disjointed leaves from the left wreath as shown. Thanks to John Roberts.
