1887-P VAM-1D Spiked Bottom of Left Wing
Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie December 2004.
1D III2 1 · C3a (Spiked Bottom of Left Wing) ( ? ) I-2 R-5
Reverse C3a – Short horizontal die gouge spike from bottom of eagle’s left wing.
Comments:
- VAM 1D may appear to have a misplaced date (MPD) in the denticles, but review of an early die state coin has shown that this is not the case.
- Very late die stages do not have the spike at wing due to die wear. These also show a doubled ear on the right inside, again due to die erosion.
Vam 1D vlds is usually attributed as only vam 1 , but remember tditd
