1883-O VAM-3 O/O Right

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965.
3 III2 13 - C3b (O/O Right, Doubled 1) (181) I-2 R-3
Obverse III2 13 - 1 doubled at bottom of crossbar and left top side of shaft. Slight doubling at lower inside of 3 lower loop.
Reverse C3b - II O Mint mark re-punched with original showing on the right side of the opening.

1. Both of these coins as well as the 3A have a very nice gouge in RT of LIBERTY. (5-18-2013 RH )
2. Polishing Lines all over Obverse.

The date is in the nominal position. You can see if at the top right, However, it is faster to make the attribution with the crack netween the 1 and the 8, which is easily visible in the full date shot.
The 1 is doubled.
Additionally, unique die polish scratches are visible throughout the obverse.

The doubled O mint mark is all that is needed to attribute the reverse die.
